I have launched a new plugin to the WordPress plugin repository. It’s related to AI but not in the way you’d expect. I’ve found that a lot of plugins are adding AI-related options to the WordPress admin area, often in ways unrelated to their core functionality, and Hide AI is meant to restore a clutter-free interface.
The intention is not to discourage the use of AI, but rather to promote its intentional use rather than have it made available at every opportunity. I want to see people use AI as a tool, whether for learning, development, or image generation because they have a purpose in mind, rather than having an AI-first mindset in every situation. Furthermore, individual plugins offering AI options leads to a lot of clutter in the interface, especially for people who are not using them on a regular basis.
The result is the “Hide AI” plugin which hides buttons and links related to AI within the WordPress admin area. Here is an example of a typical situation with AI options added to a Gutenburg toolbar, showing before and after the installation of the Hide AI plugin.

To use Hide AI, download it directly from the WordPress plugin repository, or search “Hide AI” (with the quotes, trust me on this) in the Plugin area of your WordPress admin.
Initial response to Hide AI
Almost immediately, a number of developers and agency owners responded positively, and the plugin received some coverage by people writing about WordPress news.
